London mayor Sadiq Khan has secured a £67m grant to create 900 new long-term homes in the capital.

The finance is part of the government’s £160m fund to provide new homes for people in emergency accommodation by the end of 2020/21.

The mayor will use the funds for the development, acquisition and refurbishment of homes, as well as revenue funding for up to four years’ support toward affordable rental homes.

In May, housing secretary Robert Jenrick announced £105m towards interim accommodation and a further £161m to provide 3,300 new supported homes for the longer term
